“I have  learned all of this theory but I can’t seem to put it into my writing!”

You’ve learned the chords, voicings, counterpoint and instrument ranges but can’t bring it all together into orchestrations like the masters? Do you just add elements until you think it sounds ok but you’re unsure how all the pieces fit?

During over a decade of teaching composition and orchestration, this has been one of the most common complaint and issue with students.

So here is Orchestrating the Line 2.

I cant’ believe I even debated whether to take the new course. It is an absolute goldmine of information and clarity. In one sentence you can answer so many questions that continuously plague my mind (some of which I could never quite articulate) and I am forever grateful for your fantastic teachings.

ABOUT ORCHESTRATING THE LINE 2

Orchestrating the Line 2 is a systematic, in-depth course covering the building blocks of orchestral accompaniments as we build the layers found in masterful orchestrations.

image-4978
This course is not a scattering of information for you to piece together, but a clear, organized path to learn the building blocks of orchestral accompaniment and how they all fit together to achieve the clear orchestrations of the masters. No more confusion.

Orchestrating the Line 2 takes off where OTL ended. It builds on the foundation of the techniques seen in the previous course and develops them across the new layers and techniques learned.

This results in reinforcement of the techniques so you reach clarity, mastery and fluency.

This is all done while keeping with the central premise of these courses: to build orchestrations like the masters where the elements effortlessly and organically support the main line.

...it’s really incredible! Well worth the price!

NOT A BASIC COURSE

Orchestrating the Line 2 is not a basic orchestration class and doesn’t teach voice-leading, harmony, counterpoint, instrument ranges or orchestral combinations.

image-4979

This course and the previous are designed to tackle the problem students have come to me with, time and again, after they learned the theory but cannot put it all together.

It teaches you how to harness that knowledge, how to take those pieces of the puzzle and how they fit together with the principles found in the scores of the masters.

You are a really great teacher, you make every concept easily understandable and practical immediately, one can not have any better course, seriously!

LEARN FROM THE MASTERS

These are the techniques and approaches of the masters, not an artificial orchestration “system”. You will learn how the greats like Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Rimsky Korsakov and Ravel put things together with such clarity of design, and come away with tools and steps to apply to your own musical voice.

image-4980
With nearly 7 hours of video lessons
, each element is treated individually and progressively so you gain clarity for each in order to build skill and fluency.

You will walk away with a complete understanding of why, when and how things are meant to be placed in your scores.

REAL-TIME ON-SCREEN WRITING DEMONSTRATIONS

Through a large amount of on-screen writing demonstrations, you will see how to use what you learn in the course in a practical and usable way for the contemporary composer.

Writing examples range from classical style writing to contemporary film writing, all done by a working composer and orchestrator while providing steps and insightful commentary into the process.

His bet yet. Easy to follow and lots of wonderful info to improve your orchestration!

SUPPORTS YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS

Not only does the course provide a clear, organized, step-by-step approach to putting all the blocks together and

building your technique, but also focuses on the thought process that occurs when writing so that every element supports your own creative process and even enhances it.

BUILDS ON ORCHESTRATING THE LINE 1

Orchestrating the Line 2 is a continuation and builds on the techniques of the first course.

image-4982
Throughout this course you will be integrating and reinforcing the techniques learned in the first course, so it is strongly recommended you start with the previous course before tackling this one.

RESULT DRIVEN LESSONS

ScoreClub courses all aim to create real-world, usable skills. Every technique is presented as a separate skill with suggested exercises, every skill building to the next one in a progression that will lead to you gaining clarity and mastery over your tools. To build your musical thinking like a language.

Alain’s style of teaching is absolutely first rate. It not only meets the hopes I had for OTL but exceeds them.

Alain, just when I thought it could not get any better, you continue to impress me, which is why I continue to buy your videos. Your knowledge and approach take complex ideas and simplifies them making the complex ideas, accessible. There is so much content in all your videos and even more OTLII that I have a lot to work on. I look forward to your next course. I can not thank you enough.

  3. Excellent course!

Yet another first rate course by Alain. He presents the materials clearly and analyzes well-chosen great examples from a variety or genres. He gives you a window into his thought process behind orchestration.
This is a very big subject that he breaks down into manageable bites. I like the amount of time spent on each chapter – long enough to fully explain it, without being long-winded.
Every time I do one of Alain’s courses, my ears open up to orchestral music and I find myself experiencing and enjoying music in a whole new way.
    Highly recommended!
